Lee Roy Selmon's story is a mix of football scholarship for his family as well as service to the community. The first time his parents raised him by Lucious and Jessie Selmon at their Eufala farm. He was their youngest of nine kids. The Selmons were also among the three siblings that represented Oklahoma on the field of football. Three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy was named the most effective offensive lineman of the country by Outland, Lombardi and the Outland Awards. Oklahoma had two National Championships throughout his three-year tenure as the lineman. Selmon was given a second scholarship in 1975. He was also named as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon obtained his degree in education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer hours per week during his time in college. In Tampa He played with the Buccaneers for nine seasons, and eventually became an all-pro. He also began a career in the field of business. He was an Account Relation Officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked on the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute in the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as being among 10 of the most outstanding American young males. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 pounds at the time he played college football. He was a captain in 1975. led the team. He was promoted to associate director of Athletics at the University of South Florida, in 1993. The College Football Hall of Fame recognized him in the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame, in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 presented the Distinguished American Award to his parents, Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. The award ceremony was conducted by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
